I am Sebastian Forman, a visual artist based in London, I studied my BA: Fine Art Painting at Camberwell College of Arts in 2022. My practice investigates the complex and intimate entanglement between the human body and the nature through a multidisciplinary approach encompassing ceramics, painting, and digital media. I have exhibited in various group shows through YAP Art, ST.ART Gallery and Southwark Park Galleries.
My work is informed by post-humanism, expressionism, and surrealism. This ongoing series examines the anatomical structures and organic forms through a hybrid lens. I am particularly interested in metamorphosis, materialised through flesh-like textures, sinews, tendons, and botanical morphologies that interweave, contort, stretch, and contract. These forms reflect both the fragility and resilience of the human body, as well as its continual negotiation with external forces, biological, social, and environmental forces.
Themes of transformation, fragmentation, and regeneration underpin my practice, drawing attention to how bodies adapt, disassociate, or heal. Through abstracted forms and tactile surfaces, I intend to convey the tension between embodiment and disembodiment, growth and decay and the interchangeable facets of identity.
