SAM VICARY

Sam Vicary is a painter whose work is rooted in the memory of place. This unique series of small paintings began with a few stitches on linen in place of drawing in the landscape. The stitches followed the seams of the landscape; from rocky outcrops into twisted ancient woodland, and dropping down to the sea. The works were finished in the studio.

Based in Wales, Sam’s wider practice (oil on canvas, combining still life and landscape) is currently on show at Aberystwyth Arts Centre and Canfas, Cardigan.
