Rose Shuckburgh

Rose Shuckburgh’s recent work centers around themes of self-reflection and the introspection that comes from being alone in nature. She explores these themes by focusing on female figures, standing stones and mountains, which hold a personal significance for her after growing up in the Welsh hills. Her work examines how genders are portrayed in art, depicting women in a less posed, more honest way to the stereotypical ways in which women have been displayed in art historically. As well as watercolour, she also works in oil paint and various printmaking techniques.
