CLAIRE LANGLY-Smith
Claire lives in East Harting, West Sussex with her husband and 3 children. Having left chartered surveying after 10 years to raise her 3 children and complete a house project she was given a voucher by her friends to do a pottery taster course at ‘Loam Studio’s’ near Petersfield which sparked a new passion. 3 more courses and years later, she now has her own wheel and studio at home.
Now a part time ceramacist with a focus on making unique, characterful and loved pottery pieces from stoneware clay that has been reclaimed. Her collection is showcasing her most recent work which she has handthrown in her home studio, then glazed and fired @loamstudio’s. She uses dipping glazes and love experimenting with layers and combinations.
This exhibition showcases her most recent work, with a focus on bowls, vases, jugs and mugs. Her style is purposefully handmade, chunky and each piece is unique. She doesn’t do any production pottery and rarely have a plan when she is at the wheel!
