Cat Tams

Cat Tams is an award-winning Painter and Printmaker who graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2023 with a First-Class degree in Fine Art. She studied Drawing and Painting at Leith School of Art and completed a Studio Assistant Apprenticeship at Edinburgh Printmakers. Her work is a response to the visible world around her through observational drawing, with a particular interest in exploring a sense of place - often at the meeting point between humankind and the natural world. Cat has a background in geography, and has lived and work in different parts of the world, and her art work draws from memory of place and landscape. She has recently completed a Residency with The Royal Drawing School at Dumfries House, where she worked directly from the surrounding Woodlands and Gardens. The work explores the position of trees as witness to a different scale of space and time to our own, and their fundamental connection to humankind.
